ABOUT
Kia Ora, I'm Dr. Olivia Payne. My journey in Obstetrics and Gynaecology began at the University of Auckland, New Zealand, where I obtained my medical qualification (MBChB) in 2005. Following this, I pursued a postgraduate Diploma in Obstetrics and Medical Gynaecology, furthering my passion for women's health.

My training took me across New Zealand and Australia, it was while I was in Sydney that I completed my specialist training in high-risk obstetrics. This is where I developed a deep interest in managing complex pregnancies, particularly those complicated by medical and fetal conditions.

My dedication to preventing stillbirth and effectively managing pregnancies affected by fetal growth restriction or previous adverse outcomes is at the core of my practice. I firmly believe in an evidence-based approach, especially when it comes to preventing preterm birth.

As a certified PROMPT instructor, I've had the privilege of sharing my knowledge of emergency obstetric management, both locally and internationally, including in Fiji through the Pacific Society of Reproductive Healthcare. Additionally, my roles as a Clinical Fellow and Senior Lecturer at the University of Auckland allowed me to contribute to shaping the future of obstetrics in Aotearoa New Zealand.
I've taken on leadership roles, including Co-Lead of the Complex Care in Obstetrics and the Diabetes in Pregnancy Teams at Taranaki Base Hospital. However, my commitment extends beyond medical expertise to encompass the holistic well-being of my patients. As a mother myself, I understand the vulnerabilities of pregnancy and the postnatal period, offering compassionate care and support for women facing mental health challenges or previous birth trauma.

Born in Auckland, I've returned to my roots in Taranaki, where I spent much of my childhood with my grandmother and extended family. My partner and I have a lifestyle block, two dogs, and a small animal sanctuary - the perfect place to raise our two daughters.

I am honored to be part of your journey, providing the best personalised care and support during one of life's most precious experiences.
